1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!   September 8, 2010

Worst piece of junk out there. Dangerous too. The two I purchased both leaved salt and water and almost electrocuted me. This was even after following the instructions to the letter.

1 out of 5 stars It WILL burn your hands and it WILL stain your clothes with brown water   August 26, 2010

I bought this in a kiosk in Sawgrass Mills in Miami.

Like all the other reviews, the demo they do live is very impressing. I ended up buying 2 units.

Back at home, when you plug this at the outlet you will see your house lights dimming. This thing consumes a LOT of eletricity, I'm pretty shure it doesn't comply with any standards for safety because It's been a really long time that something I plug in my outlet makes my house lights dim like a ghost movie ...

The unit gets really, really, but REALLY hot. And the problem is the steam will only last for 150 seconds, wich is good enough for just one shirt. And when you try to refill it with water after that you WILL get burned, because it's simply too dam hot.

But I could tolerate all that, if it wasnt for it's major and unnaceptable flaw: during steaming it pops brown/dark water drops that will stain your shirt forever. I'm pretty sure I never overfilled it with water, and I have cleaned it with water after every single use.

So the botton line is:
- It's very dangerous and consumes a lot of eletricity;
- Steam only works for 2.5 minutes;
- It will get so hot you won't able to refill it after the 2.5 minutes without burning yourself;
- It will stain your white clothes with brown water, and the stain will NOT come out;

Dont get tricked by the demos. Just read this review and all the others. If I wasn't from Brazil I would file a lawsuit against these scammers right away.

4 out of 5 stars Works well and a pretty good value for the price...   August 10, 2010

I've had pretty good results with this product, although I see a lot of negative reviews on it. I think it is really a matter of following the instructions exactly and maintaining the unit. If the right amount of salt is not added the first time it is filled up, the steamer won't heat up properly or as fast as it should. It's true that a brown liquid results in the steamer as well. However, I just make it a point to rinse it out and make sure it is empty after each use so it is not stored with the water in it. When operated properly it really does generate a nice stream of steam very quickly and does a great job getting wrinkles out. I travel a lot and hate using and iron in a hotel room so for me it's perfect. Especially since it it so small and easy to pack and weighs next to nothing. Not a bad investment for under 30 bucks with free shipping, and I haven't had any problems with mine yet.

4 out of 5 stars If used correctly, it does the job.   August 4, 2010

I just bought this iron from a mall vendor for $50.00. Before purchasing, the guy let me iron a few shirts and showed me how to clean it. Once home, I used it a few times on two shirts (one black and one white) and a pair of black pants. It did a good job overall. I did notice the brown water when emptying the iron but once I rinsed it clean, I have yet had a brown water stain on my clothes. I read the reviews for this product and it seems some people don't know how to follow instructions or didn't pay attention in science class.

First, don't overfill with water. Just fill the cup with water, pour into iron and once it starts to steam WAIT ABOUT 20 SECONDS. If water spits out with the steam then you have added too much water. Just pour some out.

Second, the brown water is created during the chemical reaction with the water. The sodium in the salt conducts electricity. This is NOT rust water. The water should be brown and the steam should be white.

Third, this product isn't like a regular iron. Leaving brown water in the iron until next use isn't a good idea in my opionion. I will continue to rinse it out after every use.

Overall, the product does work. I can iron my clothes in my closet while they still hang on the rack. But the product isn't too sturdy. Meaning, if you have young kids and they get a hold of it they will most likely break it...

1 out of 5 stars PLEASE DON'T BUY   July 25, 2010
Warning!
PLEASE DO NOT purchase this product at any kiosk in any mall anywhere (online either).
It is the epitome of a rip off. It doesn't eliminate wrinkles, stains clothes, and runs out of steam after 4 minutes (or less). Customer service doesn't respond (there may not even be a legitimate headquarters) and the BBB can't get a reliability report from them. BE FOREWARNED!
I've learned now to always purchase "no refund, exchange only" items with a credit card. That way, atleast you can dispute the issue via your credit card company and possibly get a credit.
