Product Description This 42 Liter Touchless Trashcan NX model uses latest sensor technology. As your hand or debris enter the zone 6 inches from the infrared sensor on top of the trash can, the lid will automatically open. The lid will remain open if debris or hand is within the 6 inch range of the infrared sensor. 3 seconds after your hand moves away from the lid it closes automatically. At top front of the lid there are open and close buttons for manual operation, and there is a on/off power switch on the back of the trash can. This 2nd generation automatic trash can improves sensor sensitivity to prevent accidental opening, and a mechanically superior lid opening mechanism for longer lasting, more durable operation. Fits any regular 13 gallon trash bag. Comes with bag retainer ring to secure and hide the trash bag inside the trash can. Optional AC power adaptor is available. The Benefits: This 100% touch-free trash can creates a germ free, odor free, automated environment. It keeps your hands clean while you are cooking or playing with your children. It also helps prevent contamination, which reduces the threat of certain illnesses and infections. Because the trash can turns an ordinary chore into something fun, your kids will have enjoy throwing the trash away for you. In addition, the Touchless Trashcan could outlast most step-on and hand-touch cans since if you don't touch it, you can't break it! This could actually be the last trash can you ever buy, which will save you money, mess, and time.

Pretty good September 5, 2010 Hair Bands Rule Overall, I am happy with this trash can. The sensor works about 80% of the time. When it doesn't, there is a manual button on the front that is easy to press. The button still works better than a footpedal like on other trash cans. The can looks nice. The price from amazon really isn't any more than a normal stainless trashcan from Lowes or some other store. Overall, its not perfect, but I would buy it again.
It broke after 2 months August 26, 2010 Kacey Nakamoto I had liked the appearence of the trash can but was very disappointed to have it brake after on 2 months. It is difficult to open it now that it is broken. Also, the design of the top is such that a lot of food and stains accumulate around the rim because the cover does not hide them; doesnt cover the complete top of the trash can.
I wont buy this design again.
Love it! August 25, 2010 B. Walker (madconsumer) After I had a broken plastic trash bin where it took me both hands to open it I was so fed up, decided to splurge. I looked at traditional stainless steel trash cans and they all were nearly as, or even more expensive. This has been working great now for a while. The batteries have lasted at least 4-5 months and our kids love to put their trash away. You can open it by pushing a button and need to push another button to close it, or just wait till it opens and closes by itself. I find it very easy to clean, too. If you put a lot of big bottles or other heavy stuff in it, it sometimes takes some "wiggeling" to get the full bag out cause stuff can get stuck at the top edge, but if you don't stuff it overly full it is never a problem. What I also like a lot is the design and the ring you place over the edges of the bag so the bag won't show from the outside. I love it!!!
Not worth the money. August 12, 2010 smmach73 Thought this trash can was a great idea. When we first got it my husband hated it because it is so narrow. When you try and get a full bag of trash out, it catches on the a ring at the top of the can, making it almost impossible to get the bag out without it riping. I loved that it was touchless, but I dreaded emptying it.
Now after on seven months of use the lid is broken. It just suddenly stopped working, which makes this trash can completely useless. There is no way I will continue to use just the can if I can't have the advantage of the touchless lid.
If you are still interested getting a touchless trash can, I would recommend looking for one that is wider.
Best trash can EVER made!! July 26, 2010 Mary Rood (Corryton,TN) I wish I would have bought this years ago! I stayed with my sister in Atlanta and she had one. I fell in love. This is totally hands free(you can touch a button to open if you want to). This is so great for mutliple reasons! first bieng germs and second who wants to tiuch a trasdh can? I call mine R2D2. It works great. She uses batteries but I spent 14 dollars and bought the AC adaptor. The previous trash can was simular but had the spin lid. It was always dirty with smears and hand prints. This one still looks new out of the box. No amount of money will get this one out of my home!!
