Unit was loud and did not move enough air March 8, 2010 SCUBABill (Aberdeen, NJ United States) Purchased unit because I wanted a small filter for dust and pollen for my bedroom. In my previous house I had a much larger unit that was both quiet and effective, but got rid of it when downsizing to a small apartment. This unit was just too noisy, even on the lowest speed, for me to sleep. Returned through Amazon's excellent return policy.
Great Air Cleaner for Small Spaces March 3, 2010 W. Heidelmark (Western NC) Great Air Cleaner for Small Spaces and the price was very reasonable since it included S&H, Also easy to clean the filter
Makes My Room Sound Like I'm in a War Zone March 1, 2010 R. Kilburn (Baghdad, IRAQ) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought the Honeywell HHT-011 through Amazon.com. At first all was well and I was very pleased with the air quality produced by the Air Purifier. I'm currently deployed as a U.S. Army Soldier in Iraq and the air outside is normally filled with dust, dirt, and smoke from Iraqis burning stuff. I live in a Containerized Housing Unit (CHU) and bought the Honeywell HHT-011 for my 12' X 8' room room. I tend to have sinus issues when the air quality is poor. The fan was a little loud, but tolerable - I just had to crank up the TV or IPOD. The front grill did not fit snuggly on the unit and reflects on how the unit is cheaply made.
However after about one month of use, the Honeywell HEPA Clean started to get louder and louder. It appears that the fan wheels are off center and have created a rattling noise. Now the Air Purifier is much louder and rumbles, rattles, and rolls. I've cleaned the filters (pre-filter and HEPA Filter) and the noise persists.
This purchase was very disappointing since it's a quality of life issue. But, you get what you pay for. Reading other similar reviews, this sounds like a quality control issue with Honeywell. Be prepared to spend more for a quality unit. Thanks.
Motor Burned Out March 1, 2010 Z. Hughes My unit died after a week of use on 'high'. I would return it, but being overseas, it's not worth the cost, time, or trouble. I found a unit that was almost identical at a thrift shop and brought that home. I put the nice and clean filter from the honeywell into this new unit. It didn't last through the night, running on 'high'. Both fans are dead in the exact same way. The motor doesn't start, turn, hum, anything. It acts like it isn't getting any electricity. I've taken it apart and nothing seems wrong. I think the motor just burned out. So I'm going to call this one a loss. Now to look for a filter made by someone else.
Honeywell HHT-011 Air Purifier February 28, 2010 D. Vivit (Santa Clara, CA, US) This compact HEPA filter unit operates very well and does not take up much space. Although a little white noise is inherent with it's operation, it's been a Godsend for use in a sickroom environment (the bedroom while receiving chemotherapy for cancer)... I just bought another one for my son's bedroom -- he has allergies/asthma.
